Belen is a great teacher! When I visited Ecuador as a medical student I was just starting to learn Spanish, and I needed someone to help me learn some of the basics. I was lucky enough to come across Belen. She has many qualities of a great teacher: she is patient, kind, and knowledgeable. She helped me consolidate some basic vocabulary and grammar, and even taught me some specific phrases that I needed for working in the hospital. Even though she can speak English fluently, she only spoke with me in Spanish, which was difficult, but it helped tremendously in learning how to speak and communicate in Spanish through immersion. My name is Alicia Hall and I recently had the pleasure of being Belen’s student. I lived in Guayaquil for almost 3 years and I met Belen right away. Most of my co-workers and I signed up to take classes with her and we all highly recommend her. She is a great teacher! Working with Belen is more like getting together with a friend. She made me feel so comfortable and at ease. If you want to work on conversation in Spanish, she is the teacher for you. An hour lesson feels like 10 minutes. She has taught me more than Spanish grammar and conversation, she also taught me more about Ecuadorian culture than anyone else. Any great restaurant, beach or concert that I had been to while living there was based on her recommendation. She is a really knowledgeable person. She is also an amazing cook! If you have the opportunity to cook with her or sample any of her food, take it!

I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience learning Spanish with Belen. From her, I took an intensive Spanish course in a small group then continued with individual lessons. Belen was very accomodating to my schedule. I could see that she prepared extensively for the lessons and adapted lessons based on my learning needs. She made the classes interesting and engaging by helping me with Spanish that was applicable to my situation. I completely recommend Belen as aan engaging, caring and professional Spanish teacher.

I would like to wholeheartedly recommend Belen Guevara for private Spanish lessons. Both my wife and I have been able to finally break through to the next level because of our time with Belen. She’s engaging and very skilled at determining what each student needs in order to succeed. I needed conversation with occasional grammar and vocabulary. My wife needed the opposite. Her rates are the most reasonable I’ve found in Cuenca and you can either go to her in El Centro or have a lesson on Skype. (My wife does one of each per week.)

We took Spanish lessons from her for two months. She is an excellent teacher. She was always prepared, explained the concepts thoroughly, giving examples, and she used a variety of media in her instruction. She has a great sense of humor and really seems to enjoy what she does. While she speaks English, she gives her lessons almost completely in Spanish unless there was a need to clarify something. She speaks clearly and at an appropriate speed to be understandable. I found this to be extremely helpful in improving my comprehension of spoken Spanish and made great strides in my command of the Spanish language. And she will come to your home or you can go to hers. I highly recommend Belén to anyone wanting to improve their Spanish.
